Transgender Akkai casts her vote for the first time

Bengaluru: Transgender, Akkai Padamshali, a transgender activist cast her vote for the first time today.
Padamshali said that it has been a 16-year long struggle her democratic right.
Padamshali was earlier rejected to enroll her as a “female” in the voter ID cards. However, earlier this year, after nearly a year of process, she was given a voters ID card.
“It is a great happiness that I can finally vote,” she said.
