Trio charred to death after Bike, BMTC bus go up in flames

Bengaluru: Three youths on a bike died on Monday, February 11 evening after they hit a BMTC at Devagere cross near Kaggalipura. The impact of the crash was such that the bike caught fire which then spread to the bus as well.

The deceased are identified as Pradeep Kumar (28), a resident of Uttarahalli, Harish Kumar (25), a resident of Anjanapura and Basavaiah alias Avinash (24), a resident of Kanakapura. As all the passengers were able to get down from the bus as soon as it caught fire major casualties were averted.

It is gathered that the bikers tried to overtake the truck and came to the extreme right. But they failed to notice the bus and rammed into the bus head-on. All three were not wearing the helmet. The head of one of the victims was split open due to impact and the other two also died due to severe head injuries. All the 20 passengers in the bus escaped unhurt.

The accident happened due to rash driving by the motorist and that they had registered a case. All bodies have been shifted to Rajarajeshwari Medical Hospital, informed Kaggalipura police.
