Truck mows down 50-year-old woman riding pillion on a scooter

Kundapur: A 50-year-old woman was killed after a goods laden truck hit the scooter on which she was riding pillion and ran over her at Margoli near Basrur on Thursday, January 17. The deceased has been identified as Maimoona, a resident of Kodi.

Maimoona was returning home with her husband after offering prayers at the mosque at Margoli when the accident took place. the couple was proceeding towards Kundapur when the truck came and collided with their scooter.

The force of the impact was such that Maimoona, who was riding pillion, was thrown to the middle of the road instantly coming under the wheels of the truck and dying on the spot. However her husband Haji Saheb escaped with minor injuries.

The accident gave birth to a traffic jam which was soon set right by the police. DySP Dinesh Kumar, circle inspector Manjappa, Kundapur SI Harish and Kandloor SI Sridhar Naik have visited the spot and a case has been registered with Kundapur traffic police station.
