‘Tube light’ remark: Cong leaders lash out at Modi; Kharge terms him ‘zero bulb’

Bengaluru: Reacting to PM Modi’s ‘tubelight’ jibe at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, veteran Congress leader Mallikarjuna Kharge on Saturday, February 8 termed Modi as ‘zero bulb’.
Speaking to reporters here Kharge said that though a tubelight takes time to turn on, it provides enough light, which a zero bulb doesn’t despite turning on fast. In comparison a tubelight is better than a zero bulb, he added.
Further he slammed the Prime Minister for making personal remarks on the opposition party leaders and said that such type remarks do not suit the caliber of a Prime Minister.
“Being a second-term prime minister, Modi should not lower the image of his position by such remarks. He must learn to accept the remarks of opposition, whose role is to highlight the failures of the government.
PM made countless promises to people of India namely – doubling income of farmers, creating jobs etc. He should speak about that instead of making personal remarks on the opposition party.”
Hitting out at Modi, former minister D.K Shivakumar said” If Modi considers himself a floodlight, he must through some light on promises he made to youths and farmers. When the economy is in a wrong turn, he is busy in taking digs at opponent leaders than fixing the important issues.”
