Tulu Sahitya Sammelana held at Bantwal

Bantwal: Tulu Sahitya Sammelan was held at Bantwal Taluk on Sunday.
A cultural procession organised to mark the occasion was earlier inaugurated by AC Bhandari, President of the Tulu Sahitya Academy while the exhibition was inaugurated by veteran writer Erya Lakshminarayana Alva.
Eminent writer Malar Jayaram Rai who presided over the function said languages such as Sindhi, Nepali, Konkani, Manipuri and Sanskrit languages which have less population than that of Tuluvas have been included in the 8th schedule of Indian Constitution. Despite having over 50 lakh tulu speaking people, we don’t have the language in list.
’Madipu,’ the quarterly magazine of Tulu Academy and the 15th edition of ’Tuluve’ by B Timmaiah were released during the function.
The vibrant exhibition displaying the rich culture and tradition of Tulunad was the added attraction of event.
The guests were welcomed in a traditional by offering Bella-neer (water and jaggery).
