Three of a family, including two women, were killed and one of the car occupants escaped unhurt when the car they were travelling in fell into a lake in the district on Sunday morning, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Doddanna, Sannamma and Yamuna while Praveen escaped unhurt.
According to police, the accident occurred at Bukkapatna in Shira Taluk, when the family was on the way to Dharmasthala.
A case has been registered, they said.
