Tumakuru: The accidental death case of a 45-year-old woman in Koratagere, Tumakuru took a sensational twist with police officials arresting her daughter and nephew for her murder.

The arrested accused have been identified as Shailaja (21), daughter of the victim, and Puneeth (23), the victim’s nephew.

On January 30, the victim Sumitra (45) was found dead in a water sump near her house. Both Shailaja and Puneeth claimed that Sumitra accidentally fell into the water sump.

However, Sumitra’s elder daughter filed a complaint in the Koratagere police station and the accused were called for interrogation.

It is said that Shailaja and Puneeth were having an illicit affair. Sumitra who had knowledge about their affair had warned them to stay away from each other as they are cousins.

During interrogation, it was revealed that they had strangled the victim to death and dumped her body in a water sump to allegedly continue their relationship.

Further investigations are underway.
