Tumkur: A BJP worker was barbarically hacked to death with deadly weapons by unknown assailants at the BK Halli cross in the outskirts of Pavagada in the district on Tuesday evening.
The victim, Prassana Kumar (46), was on his way home in Appajihalli from Pavagada on a motorbike when the attack took place.
The exact motive behind the killing is not yet known.
It is gathered that Prasanna Kumar was a member of BJP in the taluk and was also a member of Raitha Yuvamorcha executive member of the party. He was also actively involved in the campaigning for Legislative Council elections that are to be held on December 10, sources said.
Tumkur Superintendent of Police Rahul Kumar Shahapurwad visited the spot and carried out inspections.
