Tumkur: Child dies, woman saved in suicide bid

Tumkur: A 30-year-old woman who attempted suicide along with her child was rescued by neighbours in Kenkere village at Huliyer. Her child aged 1.5 years however died in the incident.

The woman identified as Prema was reportedly fed up of the daily quarrels at home. Reportedly her husband Jagadish is an alcoholic and abused Prema.

On Friday night, Prema decided to take the extreme step and jumped into the well along with her child. The neighbours were alarmed by the noise and were able to rescue Prema from the well but the child was not fortunate.

Fire personnel arrived at the spot and recovered the dead body from the well.

A mentally disturbed Prema is said to have attempted suicide by hanging herself again on Saturday. Her family saved her and have admitted her to NIMHANS hospital for treatment.
