Tumkur: Leader of the Opposition Siddaramaiah on Friday demanded Health Minister Sudhakar’s resignation over the death of a pregnant woman and her newborns after she was denied treatment for not having relevant documents at the Tumakuru district hospital.
Taking to Twitter, Siddaramaiah said, ” Health Minister K Sudhakar is responsible for the death of the pregnant woman in Tumkur. The entire incident should be brought under a judicial probe and Health Minister must resign. The BJP Ministers are corrupt and have no morality to punish the accused. The government has failed to provide basic necessities to the public.”
Responding to Siddaramaiah’s comments, K Sudhakar said, ” During Siddaramaiah’s tenure, there were several medical negligence cases and I can also show records on the number of infant deaths that happened. But, Siddaramaiah neither resigned nor asked his Health Ministers to resign.”
“Siddaramaiah is playing dirty politics here. He should not stoop so low for his political benefits. He is unfit to become a leader or even called a human being,” he added.
The health department has suspended four people, including the gynecologist and obstetrician of the hospital where a pregnant woman died after she was refused admission.
A criminal case has been filed against the four staffers of the Tumkur hospital.
The hospital reportedly denied admission to the woman who was pregnant with twins for not having a Thayi card or Aadhar card. The woman went into labour and died of excessive bleeding during the delivery.
