Turning the bus here is a challenge

Karkala: The road passing through the heart of the market here is very narrow and is presently causing much trouble to vehicular movement. There is no proper parking facility here. Even though this is a major problem in the city, the concerned officials and the representatives of the people are failing to show their will power in resolving the issue.
Due to this, it is a challenging task for the drivers to turn their buses here where exist three roads. Vehicular movement is taking a hit here and travellers are only left further frustrated.
Narrow road
Since the road is pretty narrow, it is adversely affecting the transportation here. Besides, pedestrians traverse this road bearing their lives in their hands. Till now, nobody has considered widening the road.
Parking area
The market is plagued with haphazard parking. No proper area has been identified for the purpose of parking. Hence, on the occasion of feasts, festivals and fairs, the pre-existing problem here only amplifies.
Road bordered by ditch
The road had been dug up for pipeline laying, but the ditch was never filled. The road is over populated with pot holes between the bus stand to Bandimath is only further hindering the progress of vehicles here.
DC had come forward
The earlier Deputy Commissioner of the district Hemalata had taken the bold action of removing the shops bordering the road. But the action failed to be implemented effectively. At some places, the owners of the buildings cooperated with the move of the DC while some others refused to leave. Therefore, the public is urging the district administration to provide proper compensation to land owners and thereby effectively develop the road here.
