Kolkata: Unknown persons allegedly damaged five cars including the OB van of a Bengali news channel, police said today.

Five vans including the OB van of 24 Ghanta news channel were damaged late last night when the vehicles were parked in the parking zone below the office premises in Poddar Court area in Bowbazar Police Station limits, a senior officer of Kolkata Police said this morning.

“We are shocked by the incident. We have been parking our cars and OB vans in this area for the past 11 years and nothing has happened. Going by the damage it seems that the person or the group who are responsible for it have grudge against 24 Ghanta because no other vehicle was damaged,” 24 Ghanta Editor Anirban Choudhury told PTI.

An FIR regarding the incident has been lodged by the channel authorities with the local police station.

“We are looking into the matter. CCTV footage of the area has been collected and we are examining them,” the officer said.
