Mumbai: Microblogging platform Twitter on Thursday, February 4 deleted tweets posted by Bollywood actor Kangana Ranaut on farmers protest citing violation of rules on hate speech.
Following Rihanna’s tweet supporting the farmers’ protests in India, Kangana called the protestors ‘terrorists’ and even had a virtual argument with Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh after he dedicated a song to Rihanna titled ‘RiRi’.
Kangana called Diljit a ‘Khalistani’ in one of her tweets.
Twitter India in their statement mentioned that Kangana’s tweets ‘violated the rules’ and further added that they have taken action on tweets that were in violation of the Twitter Rules in line with their range of enforcement options.
This isn’t the first time that actions were taken against Kangana, she had faced a brief suspension on Twitter after she called for beheading of producers of Tandav, a web series which according to her was offensive to Hindus.
