New Delhi: Micro-blogging platform Twitter has flagged a tweet by BJP’s social media head Amit Malviya as “manipulated media”.
On November 28, Malviya had posted a “fact-check” image of an elderly farmer during a lathi charge by policemen in Haryana in response to a tweet posted by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
The image posted by Rahul Gandhi shows an elderly farmer trying to dodge the baton of a policeman. Responding to this Malviya posted a “propaganda vs reality” tweet with a video of the same with the caption, “Rahul Gandhi must be the most discredited opposition leader India has seen in a long long time”.

A longer video of the same incident which was released by fact-check website Alt News however shows policemen lathi charging the protesters. Several users, in tweets, said that this is the first time Twitter has labelled “fake news” in India.
