Bengaluru: Former Union Minister Anant Kumar hedge took to twitter and mocked Kanakapura MLA DK Shivakumar after he laid the foundation stone for Jesus Christ Statue at Harobele on December 25.

Hedge tweeted in Kananda which roughly translates to,” Here is a #TiharReturned gentleman who, with the desire for a better post is trying best to please his Italian mother by setting up a huge statue of Jesus and showing off his manhood.”

He also mocked the Congress party workers in his tweet as he added, “There is no surprise if more Congress slaves come to the arena to compete with this kind of politics.”

In response to this Shivakumar tweeted, “I believe in equality and tolerance which are the vital foundation of democracy. In my Kanakapura constituency, we have citizens belonging to different caste, religions. My intention is to respect their feelings.”

In his tweet, he also added a note with the work he has done in the past for all the communities.

“I don’t want to take lessons from someone who went on to burn Dr. B R Ambedkar Sir’s constitution,” he added.

After laying the foundation stone, Kanakapura MLA handed over the documents and title deed to the trust responsible for the construction of 114 feet statue.
