Two arrested; cash seized by Excise officials

Mangaluru: Two persons were arrested in separate cases by the excise officials and a total of Rs 20,33,750 in cash was seized from the accused.

First incident

The excise squad arrested a person who was travelling by bus on Saturday, August 24 for carrying Rs 12,53,750 cash without any supporting documents. The arrested person is identified as Ahmed Dilshan (21), a resident of Kumble Koyippadi in the district of Kasaragod in the state of Kerala and has been handed over to the Manjeshwar police for further investigation.

The accused was travelling from Mangaluru to Kasaragod by KSRTC bus and was sitting on the back seat of the bus with the money in a plastic bag. On inquiry, he said that he was taking the money from Thokkottu to be handed over to a jewellery shop in Kumble of Kasaragod. More details are awaited.

Second incident

Excise officials arrested Allanguliya Abdul Sayyed (40), a resident of Taliparamba for transporting Rs 7.8 lakh in cash in a scooter on the night of Saturday, Aug 24. The amount was revealed when the excise officials stopped the scooter arriving from Vitla, for checking at Perla check post. The arrested person was handed over to the Badiyadka police station for further investigation.
