Two arrested for printing and circulating counterfeit currency notes

Mangaluru: Two persons have been arrested from Kelarai, Neermarga by police at the Bajpe police station for circulating counterfeit currency notes. A colour printer, two mobile phones, a motor bike, three Rs 500 and seven Rs 200 counterfeit currency notes have been seized from their possession.
The two arrested have been identified as Dheerendra (45) and Sudheer Poojary (44).
Both the counterfeiters were exposed when they had visited a shop near Sooralpady on February 23 buying a Rs 20 shaving razor pack and paying for it with one of their counterfeit Rs. 200 note. The shopkeeper found the note to be suspicious and approached the duo who had by then entered another shop nearby and had bought mustard seeds with another counterfeit Rs 200 note. When both the shopkeepers approached the duo they escaped on their motorbike.
One of the shopkeeper filed a complaint at Bajpe police station on February 24 resulting in both been caught by the police later.
