Madikeri: Two children who were playing on a swing they had made by using their mother’s saree choked them to death in Unjigana Halli, Ganagur near Somwarpet in the district on Wednesday, June 30 evening.

The deceased were identified Munishka (14) and Poornesh (12), children of Raju and Jayanthi. Raju works as a coolie.

The incident took place when the elders were not at home.

Reportedly, the swing suddenly twisted and tightened around their necks, as the result the duo were choked to death.

The incident came to light when Ramanna, grandfather of the children, who had gone out for work, returned home. Though he immediately untied the saree and brought the children down, they were no more alive.

Police circle inspector Mahesh, sub-inspector Sridhar and other staff visited the spot, and registered a case.
