Two children die of suffocation as bed catches fire

Bengaluru: Two children died due to asphyxiation while playing inside their house within Electronic City police station limits on Sunday, November 11.
The deceased have been identified as Srujan (5) and Lakshmi (2). Srujan and Lakshmi were children of Devendra and Roopashree. The couple hailed from Nepal and had come to the city one-and-half years ago. Roopashree was working as a domestic help, while Devendra was working as a security guard.
Reportedly, around 8 am Roopashree left the children inside the house, locked the door and left for work, Devendra was sitting near the entrance of the apartment. At 11 am when Lakshmi returned home she noticed smoke coming out from her house. She immediately opened the door and saw that the bed children were laying down had caught on fire. The children were rushed to a nearby hospital immediately but they were declared brought dead. The Electronic City police rushed to the spot and carried out preliminary investigation.
A case with this regard has been registered with the Electronic City police. The bodies were handed over the to the family after postmortem.
