Two CPM activists taken into custody in relation to youth Cong workers murder

Kasargod: Two CPM workers have been detained for interrogations in connection with the murder of youth Congress workers, Kripesh and Sharath Lal from Periya in the district. The police seized two motorbikes found in their possession.

As per initial investigations, the police investigating have zeroed in on three persons, who had posed death threats to the victims and are keeping a close vigil on their movement. The police are scrutinising the call records of Kripesh and Sharath to gather further information.

The deceased, Kripesh had in the past alleged threat to his life by few persons through Facebook and WhatsApp and had even lodged a complaint in this regard at Bekal police station.

Kerala police have information that the accused may have fled to Karnataka after committing the crime and has thus sought assistance from Karnataka police to nab the culprits.

Meanwhile, the funeral of Kripesh and Sharath was held on Monday night at Periya in the presence of a large crowd. Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president, Mullapalli Ramachandran, leader of the opposition, Ramesh Chennittala, K Sudhakaran, youth Congress state president, Dean Kuriakose and several other leaders paid their last respects.
