Two from Kasaragod arrested for smuggling of Rs 14.19 lakh worth of foreign currency

Kasaragod: The CISF arrested two persons attempt to smuggle Rs 14.19 lakh worth of foreign currency at Kallikote Karppur international airport here.

The arrested are identified as Ashraf of Muliyuru Balanadka (28) and Muneer (43) of Bekal hills. The seized currency has been handed over to the Air Customs officials.

The currency was found hidden in the bags during luggage inspection of the accused who had come to the airport to board an Air India Express plane to Dubai. 5,000 US dollars and 4,000 Euro currency was found in Muneer’s bag while 2,600 Euros and 5,600 pounds were found in the bag of Ashraf, informed airport officials.
