Lalbhag: A fight broke out between two groups belonging to rival political parties at a pub in Ballalbagh late on Saturday night Jan 5th. Apparently during the fight, a pistol was pointed in public and also a death threat was given, it is said.
The police have arrested one of the accused identified as Ameel Basit and the name of another of the five accused is given as Puneeth Shetty who is also the prime accused in this case. The police have registered an attempt to murder (IPC 307) among various other sections of the IPC against Puneeth and his accomplices.
The reason
Reportedly, a verbal altercation arose between two groups led by Puneeth Shetty and Suman Shetty respectively on a silly reason late on Saturday night in the pub. The argument then grew into a fight when the gang led by Puneeth reportedly attacked Rakshith Salian, an acquaintance, who tries to intervene and resolve the fight. The report also states that Puneeth then pointed his revolver to Suman’s forehead and threatened to kill him. In the melee, Rakshith sustained injuries to his eye and ear after the accused hit him with beer bottles.
On receiving information of the fight, Barke police rushed to the spot and dispersed the crowd by using lathi charge.
