Two killed as SUV hits scooter, driver arrested

New Delhi: Two men were killed and another grievously injured when a speeding car hit a scooter and a pedestrian in outer Delhi’s Paschim Vihar, police said today.
The incident, which was reported on Tuesday, had got captured in CCTV cameras which helped the police track down the car driver and arrest him.
The police said that locals alerted them about the accident and the injured men were rushed to a hospital, where Arvind (50) was declared “brought dead”.
One of the other injured persons, Durgesh (31), died during treatment due to excessive bleeding, a senior police officer said.
The SUV was heading from Punjabi Bagh to Peeragahi when the driver suddenly took a sharp left turn and hit a scooter, the officer said.
The scooter driver was dragged for a few metres while the pillion rider was flung in the air and his head hit the divider, he said.
The officer said the car fell into a pit after hitting the scooter and a pedestrian.
The driver managed to get out of the car and the pit and fled the spot, he added.
However, he was later arrested and identified as Saurabh Jain, the officer said.
