Two minor girls drown in a water tank at Koltige Puttur

Savanur: Two minor girls lost their lives after they accidentally fell into a water tank at Mulettadka in Koltige village of Puttur taluk on Saturday evening Dec 15th. The deceased girl ae identified as Guddappa Gowda’s daughter Prajnya (12) and Damodara Gowda’s daughter Sanjana (9), both of them residents of Kempugudde Koltige.
Gudappa Gowda and Damodara Gowda are brothers with the prior being the elder one. Prajnya and Sanjana were pursuing 7th std and 4th std education respectively at Perlampady Government Higher Primary School. Both the kids were talented and Prajnya was also the school leader.
On Saturday, after returning back from school, both the girls left home to go out and play. But, even as the night crawled in, the girls failed to return back home and hence, their anxious parents started to search for them. Their frantic search eventually led them to the nearby water tank in the farm of Udaya Bhat were the misfortunate girls corpses were located.
It is suspected that the kids might had ventured near the water tank out of curiosity, slipped, fell into the tank and drowned.
Bellare police have visited the spot and a case in this connection has been registered at Bellare police station.
The corpses of the two minors has been recovered from the water tank and shifted to the government hospital for post mortem.
Prajnya is survived by her father, mother and brother
Sanjana is survived by her father, mother and her twin sister.
