Two people from Mangaluru test positive for COVID-19; state tally rises to 1146

Mangaluru: Two people from Dakshina Kannada and 52 from other districts were tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday, May 17 taking the total number of the cases to 1146.

“Today a total of 54 people were tested positive from COVID-19 taking the total number of cases to 1146,” stated Karnataka state’s mid-day health bulletin.

A 32-year-old man who was tested positive today in Dakshina Kannada is the resident of Jeppinamogaru. He had voluntarily asked the health officials to conduct the test on him after he suspected that he has COVID-19 symptoms.

The other person who was tested positive from the district is a 35-year-old woman hailing from Yeyyadi. She had returned from Mumbai on May 14. Her child and husband continue to stay under quarantine while she is undergoing treatment at a designated hospital in the district.

Till date 52 positive cases including 5 deaths have been reported in the district.
