Two pilots killed as trainer aircraft crashes in Odisha

Angul: Two persons including a female trainee were killed as a trainer aircraft crashed in Birasal Airstrip, Odisha on Monday, June 8.

The deceased identified as Captain Sanjay Kumar Jha and Aanish Fatima, a lady trainee pilot.

As per sources, the plane crashed as soon as it took off and both the pilots were killed on spot. They were later taken to a hospital in Kamakhyanagar hospital.

The cause of the crash is yet to be ascertained and technical snag might be a reason for the crash, informed sources.

Established in 2019, The Birasal Aviation Institute was shut down due to the COVID-19 lockdown. It is learned that the institute was reopened on June 1 after lockdown relaxation.
