Two students drown at St Mary’s Island; Second such incident in one week

Udupi: Two engineering students met a watery grave after falling into the sea while clicking selfies on a rock at the St Mary’s Island beach on Monday.

According to sources, a group of students from an engineering college was on a tour when the mishap occurred. Two among them climbed a rock to click selfies. They lost their footing on the slippery rocks and fell into the sea.

Sources said Both students had the same first name, Satish. The mortal remains of one of them were found, while a search is ongoing to trace the other.

Malpe police visited the spot and are investigating the matter.

It was only last week that 3 students from Kerala drowned at the beach at St Mary’s island.
