Two students drown in Tumakuru tank

Bengaluru: Two students, who had come on an excursion, drowned to death in Yeleramapura tank in Koratagere taluk of Tumakuru region on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Harish (21) and Nikhil (22) students of a private college at Vijayanagar in Bengaluru.

A group of 12 students had gone on a trip to Devarayanadurga temple and then they went to Yeleramapura tank for a swim. The police stated that Harish and Nikhil, who were sitting on a rock on the bank, reportedly slipped and fell into the tank, around 1.30 p.m. As both the boys did not know how to swim, they drowned.

The Fire and Emergency Services personnel recovered the bodies. Further investigation is still in progress.
