Two suspected to be washed away in Tungabhadra

Ballari: Two people were suspected to have been washed away in the Tungabhadra near Bagwadi inthe district amid the early long stretches of Friday. The occurrence happened when they were removing sand from the river. Their names were given as Rafique (35) and his son Isaac (6). 

As indicated by police, four people, all residents of first ward in Sirguppa, had run with bullock trucks to extract sand. Saddam (23) and Mehaboob (15) managed to swim to safety after untieing the bulls. Rafique and his son are suspected to have been washed away. 

On getting the information, Tahsildar Sunita and police and Fire and Emergency Service staff reached the spot and started rescue operation. Attempts to trace the missing people are still going on.
