Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker U.T. Khader expressed deep condolences over the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, a renowned economist stating that his death is an irreparable loss not only to India but also to the global economy.

Highlighting Dr. Singh’s pivotal role during India’s 1991 economic crisis, Khader noted, “At a time when India was grappling with severe financial turmoil, Dr. Singh’s visionary leadership steered the nation towards economic recovery. His decision to release gold reserves stored abroad and initiate economic liberalization policies marked the beginning of a new chapter in India’s self-reliance and prosperity.”

Khader emphasized that Dr. Singh’s contributions made India’s economy robust, even when global economies were struggling. “The economic freedom and self-reliance evident in every Indian household today is a testament to his legacy,” he said.

He also acknowledged Dr. Singh’s progressive outlook and enduring contributions as a source of inspiration for future generations. “May his soul rest in peace,” he concluded in his statement.
