Uchila Dasara 2024: Cultural feast from October 3 to 12

Kapu: The Uchila Dasara 2024 celebrations at Sri Mahalakshmi Temple will kick off on October 3 with a grand lineup of cultural programs and a spectacular laser show from October 3 to 12.
With the support of the Kannada and Culture Department of the Government of Karnataka and the contribution of devotees, the celebrations will be hosted at the Shalini Dr. G. Shankar Open Auditorium. A wide array of cultural performances will take place daily during the festival.
Day 1 – October 3: The festivities will begin with a dance competition at 6:30 PM, followed by cultural performances.
Day 2 – October 4: Local women will perform at 6:30 PM, with a live background music performance accompanying a variety of dances by the Natyashree Group, Manjeshwar, starting at 8 PM.
Day 3 – October 5: A group bhajan will be performed on the temple street at 6:15 PM, followed by cultural programs by the district Mogaveera Youth Association and a Sri Rama-Hanuman dance drama by Guru Kousalya Nivas and troupe at 8:30 PM.
Day 4 – October 6: A group Dandiya dance will be held from 6:30 PM, followed by a mega magic show by Kudroli Ganesh at 8 PM.
Days 5 to 12: The following days will witness performances of Yakshagana, classical music, and dance dramas. There will also be a special dance program by Vidushi Rohini Uday’s disciples from Puttur and a musical evening led by Ajay Warrior from Mangalore on October 11.
The festival will conclude on October 12 with a grand procession featuring Navadurga and Sharada idols, ending with a Jalastambha ceremony at Kaup Beach. The finale will include a live music show and an extraordinary laser light performance, according to organizers Dr. G. Shankar and committee officials.
