Udayavani Impact: Koraga family shifted to rented house

Mangaluru: The district administration has come forward to construct a house near Surathkal for the ‘Koraga’ families who were living in a shanty near the flyover at Bikarnakatte. Until then, as a temporary facility, a rented house has been allotted to them at Bunder area and the family is expected to shift to their temporary residence on Wednesday.
On July 8th, ‘Plight of the Downtrodden in Mangaluru’ article was published in ‘Udayavani’. Post which, the district administration woke up and came forward on their own to provided assurance to the downtrodden Koraga family.
On Monday, minister U.T. Khader, MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Mayor Bhaskar, Corporator Keshav Maroli, Tashildar Guruprasad and Maroli Gram member visited the location where the family lived. Meanwhile, as per the promise made earlier by the officials, caste certificate was given to the 11 members of the 2 families. They have also been registered with Aadhaar.
