Udayavani – MIC “Namma Sante”: Overwhelming response from customers on Day 1

Manipal: The two-day ‘Namma Sante’ exhibition and sale, organised by Udayavani in association with Manipal Institute of Communication (MIC) at the MIC campus here, received an overwhelming response from customers on Saturday.
Various articles including handicrafts, clay products, various kinds of decorative items, and khadi clothes, produced by local artisans are being exhibited as well as sold at this one-of-a-kind fair.
Channapatna dolls, Ilakkal saree, Kanchipuram, Paithani, Maheshwari, and cotton handloom sarees as well as crafts, greetings, and handmade bags, were in high demand.
Attractive wall clocks made by MIC students, spectacles, and desi-Gau-based products for promoting ‘swadeshi products’ also received a good response.
Raviraj, who has set a counter selling Channapatna dolls, said the business was going well. “We have only used eco-friendly colours in our products,” he said.
Naveen Kumar from Mangaluru, showcased eco-friendly pots made from coconut fibers said the business was brisk on the first day. “We have got a good response. I am happy that a large number of people have bought eco-friendly products, he said.
Desi cow products including gomaya, Gaumutra, incense made using milk and health-promoting products marketed by Gau Janani were also in great demand.
The healthy snack Ragi Boti sold by Yogesh, who had come from Shivammoga, was an instant hit with the crowds, especially children. He said that a large number of customers loved the taste and made purchases for their children.
Customers also bought a large quantity of Organic Brown Rice grown by Geetha Samant, a retired teacher from Cherkady village.
