Udupi: 2 arrested for peddling drugs

Udupi: Two persons were arrested for peddling drugs including ganja and methamphetamine, CEN police said.

The arrested accused have been identified as Raghavendra Devadiga (41) of Hiriyadaka and Jagadish Poojary (32) of Alevoor.

A team led by CEN Station Police Inspector Manjunath intercepted the duo and seized about 1.176 kg of ganja, 10 grams of methamphetamine, a scooter without any registration plate, two mobile phones, a weighing machine and covers used for packing the contraband from their possession.

The total value of the goods seized is estimated to be around Rs 2,09,000, police added.

A case has been registered at the CEN police station here.

Of the arrested, Raghavendra was earlier under police custody for drug peddling. Being a dog lover he is notoriously known as “Dog Raghu”. Jagadish is a close friend of Raghu and sells fish during the day, police said.

Meanwhile, police are questioning the accused to know the source of the drugs.
