Udupi: Accused in POCSO case, who was absconding for two years, arrested from Uttarakhand

Udupi: Police nabbed an accused in a 7-year-old POCSO case, who had been absconding for over 2 years, from the Indo-Nepal border.
The arrested accused has been identified as Jitendra Sharki (26), a resident of Nepal.
Sharki was an accused in a POCSO case registered in Manpal police station. He had been absconding for two years without appearing in court. Around 16 warrants and three attachment warrants were issued against him.
A sepcial team under the guidance of Udupi SP Hakay Akshay Machhindra was formed to trace his whereabouts. As per the directions, Manipal PSI Abdul Khader, Probationary PSI Nidhi BN, HC Thomson, and staff Dinesh conducted an operation along the Indo-Nepal border for a week. The accused was nabbed from Gadikot under Banbasa police station limits in Uttarakhand.
The accused was produced in court and remanded to judicial custody, police said.
