Udupi: Another cheating case filed against Chaitra Kundapura

Udupi: Chaitra Kundapura, who is a key accused in the MLA ticket fraud case, has been named as an accused in another cheating case registered at Kota Police Station.
The complainant Sudeena, a resident of Kodikanyana of Brahmavara, alleged that Chaitra had cheated him of Rs 5 lakhs by promising to help him set up a garment shop.
According to the complainant, he runs a fish business and was introduced to Chaitra in 2015. She had allegedly claimed to be closely connected to BJP leaders and ministers and promised to set up a clothing store in Udupi and Kota. Between 2018 and 2022, Chaitra called Sudeena repeatedly asking for money to set up the business, the complaint says.
About Rs 3 lakhs were transferred to Chaitra’s accounts in the Kotak Mahindra at Vijayawada branch and Karnataka Bank account at Sastan branch, the complaint says, adding that rest of the money was paid in cash.
Sudeena in his complaint said that Chaitra started avoiding contact by claiming to be busy in party activities. When asked to return the money, Chatra allegedly thereatened to file false rape a case. She also issued death threats, the complainant added.
