Udupi: The army recruitment rally which was supposed to be held in Udupi from April 4 has been canceled owing to the restrictions imposed to contain Covid-19 outbreak by the government.

Chairing a preparatory meeting held at the DC’s office in Manipal on Monday, Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha informed that the recruitment rally of Indian Army will now be held in Udupi in January 2021.

Out of the 31,500 candidates who had filed applications online so far, 85 candidates hail from Udupi district, said the DC while expressing hope that more youth from the district will enroll for the recruitment rally.

Online applications can be filed until March 20. Applications will be again accepted in the month of October.

The applicants from 11 districts, who have applied for the jobs in Indian Army, will be given training in December, 2020. The venue for rally will not be changed and will be held in the town, he added.
