Udupi: The BJP district committee has taken disciplinary action against four of its leaders for “engaging in anti-party activities” ahead of the upcoming Legislative Council elections.
The leaders have been accused of supporting an independent candidate instead of the party’s official nominee for the South West Graduates’ and South West Teachers’ constituencies.
BJP issued notices to Mahesh Thakur, BJP district vice president; Upendra Nayak, Kapu Mandal vice president; Roshan Shetty, district Yuva Morcha vice president; and Junaid, district Minority Morcha general secretary.
These leaders were found to be associating with an independent candidate and soliciting votes for them, which the party has deemed inexcusable, the notice said.
The notices issued demand a clarification for their actions within 48 hours and present their explanations to the district president.
