Udupi: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the district G Jagadeesha announced the organising of the Pulse Polio vaccination drive in the district on January 17.

The DC made the announcement in a meeting here.

He further said that the immunization campaign will be for children below the age of 5 including those of migrant workers in the district.

Jagadeesha added that unlike our neighbouring countries, where high cases of polio are reported, India has no reported cases of polio since 2011 and Karnataka has not reported any since 2007.

More than 600 vaccination booths will be set up in the district where Anganwadi and ASHA workers will be administering the vaccine, he said.
