Udupi: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha on Monday conducted surprise visits at many places here.
Five bus operators were booked for carrying more passengers than the available seats.
Jagadeesha personally asked the standee passengers to alight from the bus, made the conductor refund their ticket amount and waited with them for the next bus.
Later, he visited a medical shop and a clinic where an employee and a patient respectively were fined for not wearing masks.
An employee of a cooperative society was fined both by the DC as well the society for not wearing a mask.
Then he visited a bus stand where a student was waiting for a bus maskless and provided her with a mask.
Many motorists were also stopped and fined for not wearing masks.
