Udupi: Deputy Commisioner G Jagadeesha has ordered two companies to lift the Alliance tugboat that had sunk when Cyclone Tauktae hit the coast.
In a meeting held at the Vishnu Bhajana Mandali at Padubidri on Sunday, attended by local lawmakers and representives from the companies, Jagadeesha said that MRPL has failed in salvaging the tugboat. The salvaging must be done as early as possible so as to alleviate the fear in the local population of infectious diseases as there are dead bodies inside the boat.
Kaup MLA Lalaji Mendon said that the two companies should coordinate among themsleves on the details of the salvage operation, adding that the operation must be done with least environmental damage.
