Udupi dist police seizes 8 kg of marijuana worth Rs 2.66 lakh, detains 3

Udupi: Three persons were arrested for allegedly selling marijuana in an autorickshaw at Shimbra bridge in Manipal on Thursday, February 3.

8 kilograms of marijuana worth Rs 2.66 lakh was recovered from them.

The detainees were identified as Maharashtra-based Gautam Raju Shimunge, Punjab-based Jaswinder Singh and Krishna Jalagarh from Brahmavar near here.

The district police conducted the operation to catch the marijuana peddlers after receiving a confirmed tip-off that marijuana from Maharashtra has been brought to Manipal for sale.

The operation was led by Udupi district Superintendent of Police Vishnuvardhan, Additional SP Kumar Chandra and Udupi DySP Sudhakara Nayak and police officials from Manipal police station.
