As the New Year approaches, the Udupi district police department has released a set of comprehensive guidelines aimed at ensuring the safe, lawful, and orderly conduct of celebrations. These guidelines cover various aspects, including public events, noise control, tourism management, and law enforcement during the festive period.

Key Guidelines:

  •  Celebrations are permitted until 12:30 am, allowing revelers sufficient time to welcome the New Year.
  •  In adherence to the Supreme Court directive, the use of loudspeakers is allowed for a maximum of 10 hours.
  • Organizers are encouraged to transition indoor events without loudspeakers after this allocated time.
  • Anticipating an upsurge in tourist activity, additional personnel and Home Guards will be deployed, particularly around beaches.
  • Residents residing near beaches are urged to promptly report any issues by dialing 112.
  • Special teams have been established to address incidents of moral policing, ensuring swift and appropriate action.
  • Citizens are advised against taking matters into their own hands in cases of doubts or conflicts. Instead, they are encouraged to inform the police department for proper intervention.
  • Special police surveillance will be heightened, particularly in apartments, homestays, and resorts, to deter drug use and illegal rave parties.
  •  Special arrangements have been implemented to mitigate traffic congestion during the festive period.

Udupi District SP, Dr. Arun, has directed the police department to maintain law and order, ensuring the safety of both residents and visitors alike during the New Year festivities.
