Udupi: Elderly woman dies of burn injuries sustained while lighting oil lamp

Udupi: An elderly woman died of burn injuries sustained when her saree accidentally caught fire.

The deceased has been identified as Rukmini (80), a resident of Ambalapadi.

The synthetic saree she was wearing got ignited, when she was lighting the oil lamp and an incense stick for prayers on July 28. Severely burned in the incident, Rukmini was rushed to a private hospital in Manipal.

However, she passed away without responding to treatment.

A case has been registered at the Udupi City police station in this regard.
