Udupi: In a meeting of the district tourism development committee led by Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha it was decided that floating restaurants on the rivers in the districts will be permitted and Expression of Interest (EoI) will be invited for the same.
The DC said that to further exploit the tourism potential of the district, Kodi beach at Kundapura taluk will be upgraded to receive the prestigious Blue Flag certification.
The DC also instructed the tourism department officials to prepare a plan to make all beaches financially independent by having a sustainable model of management and development that would not require additional budgetary allocation.
A master plan has also been prepared to develop tourist amenities at Ottinene Tree Park, Jagadeesha said.
He also instructed the officials to allot the commercial kiosks set up at National Highway 66 at Maravanthe beach to the bidders soon.
