Udupi: Free bone mineral density camp at Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital on July 26
Press Release, Jul 24, 2023, 4:28 PM IST
Udupi: Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital is organizing a free ‘Bone Mineral Density Camp’ at the Department of Orthopaedics on July 26 for early detection of Osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis, a silent condition that weakens bones and increases the risk of fractures, often goes undetected due to a lack of awareness about the disease. It predominantly affects postmenopausal women, and early diagnosis is crucial to prevent its progression.
In light of this, Dr. Rajaram Pai, Head of the Department of Orthopedics at Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital, Udupi, emphasizes the significance of Bone Mineral Density (BMD) testing in detecting the onset of osteoporosis.
Osteoporosis occurs when the body fails to form new bones adequately or when there is increased destruction of existing bones. By undergoing a non-invasive BMD test, individuals can assess the density of their bones and receive appropriate guidance on managing the condition.
To address the importance of early detection and promote bone health, Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital is organizing a FREE Bone Mineral Density Camp at the Department of Orthopaedics on July 26, 2023, from 9 am to 3 pm.
The camp is open to individuals above the age of 40, particularly women, who are at higher risk. Limited to 100 participants, registration will be on a first-come, first-serve basis. For registration, please contact 0820-2526501 Extn – 2164.
“We believe that prevention is better than cure, and early detection of osteoporosis through BMD testing can significantly reduce the risk of fractures and related complications,” states Dr. Shashikiran Umakanth, Medical Superintendent at Dr. T.M.A. Pai Hospital, Udupi.
