Udupi: There was high drama at a PUC exam center here on the first day of PUC exams on Friday, as two of the 6 students who were at the forefront of hijab row arrived to write the exam wearing hijabs.
At the last minute, Aliya Asadi and Resham obtained their hall tickets and arrived at the exam center at the Vidyodaya PU College, sources said.
However, the invigilators instructed the girls to attend the exams in uniforms prescribed by the college. A high drama ensued at the center for half an hour as the girls argued, back and forth, with the college staff.
The girls were adamant about their demand for wearing a hijab and were denied entry to the exam hall. They went home without writing the examination.
Later, Udupi DC Kurma Rao M visited the examination center and inspected the examination arrangements.
