Udupi: Pilgrims visiting Sri Krishna Matha are ending up in the Kadubettu area of the city all because of a Google Maps error!
Every day tourists visit Udupi from far-flung places including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Tamil Nadu for pilgrimage at Sri Krishna Matha. Most of them follow the route mentioned in Google Maps and end up at a remote road of Pulimarsank in Kadubettu.
The problem persists as the map erroneously shows the location of Sri Krishna Matha to be in the Kadubettu area.
The local residents say that too many tourists end up in the area due to navigational errors. residents are annoyed as confused and lost tourists keep asking for directions to the temple premises.
On the insistence of the locals, local representatives T G Hegde and Mahesh Shetty have installed a huge banner directing the tourists in the right direction. The banner asks the pilgrims to type “Kalsanka Rajangana Road” as a Google Maps destination to reach Sri Krishna Matha.
