Kota: Chandrasekhar Maiya, a resident of Pandeshwar here, spent Rs 6 lakhs to build two waiting sheds at two bus stops in memory of his grandparents.
Chandrashekhar’s grandfather Narasimha Tunga and grandmother Nagaveniamma were also famous for their social service work.
Many years ago, when the National Highway was still a narrow road, Narasimha and Nagaveniamma had made seating and drinking water arrangements in front of their house for travellers.
Inspired by his grandfather, Chandrasekhar too wanted to do something similar.
A year ago, he built a waiting shed in memory of his grandfather, in front of the Eeshwara matha in Pandeshwar on the Udupi-Kundapura highway.
Now, he has built another waiting shed on the Kundapura-Udupi highway in memory of his grandmother. The new shed is located exactly opposite of the older one he built a year ago.
This new waiting shed, which will be inaugurated on April 16, is eco-friendly and built in a traditional architectural style.
