Udupi: Karnataka Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara assured that the guarantee schemes meant for the benefit of the poor will not be discontinued.

Speaking to the media persons at the Ajjarkad District Stadium on Thursday, he stated that the party has decided to form a committee, led by senior leaders to assess and introspect reasons for the drubbing losses faced in the Lok Sabha elections. This committee will discuss the impact of the guarantee schemes. Decisions related to political matters will be made by the KPCC President, while the Chief Minister will decide on the Cabinet reshuffle. He clarified that he had no information on this matter.

He said that since Surjewala is the state in-charge, it’s natural to question the reasons for the loss. However, the Congress vote share has increased at both the state and national levels. The BJP has lost about 60 seats, while Congress has increased its seats from 1 to 9. Despite this, “We will introspect to understand the factors behind the defeat,” he added.

Need for Party Organization

There is a necessity to strengthen party organization in the coastal regions. We will introspect the reasons for the losses in Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, and Uttara Kannada districts. He clarified that the political system and administrative system are different, and hence the defeat in Udupi has nothing to do with the in-charge minister.

No Official Complaint Received

Dr. Parameshwara mentioned that an SIT has been formed to investigate the suicide case of an officer from the Valmiki Corporation. The CBI is also conducting its investigation since it is a bank fraud case. “Let Goolihatti Chandrasekhar file a complaint about corruption” in the Bhovi Corporation, an investigation will be initiated accordingly, he added.

Regarding the law and order situation in the state, the Home Minister said that situation is stable and no communal clashes have been reported. All festivals have been conducted peacefully. “We have information that crime rates were high during the BJP government,” he said and further challenged the BJP to clarify on how the law and order situation has deteriorated.
